Good
evening. After a very philosophical conversation with my sister about life,
free time and stuff, I've decided to do something more meaningful in my spare
time other than watching Family
Guy - writing on my very random blog. After my disappointment
of not going to the Jamie
Woon concert which took place yesterday at Romexpo, I've searched
the Internet for some fun events that I will probably won't attend(typical) and
which will happen in Le Petite-Paris(aka Bucharest).
Without
further ado, let's jump into everything.
Being
at its first edition called Fall
in red(so Taylor Swift-ish), the event promises an exclusive fair
that will blow your minds or at least your pockets. Knowing that it is quite
hard to have a rewarding shopping day in Bucharest without buying things that
everybody already has, I always giggle when I hear about things like that.
Unfortunately there's only one day left(December 2) so if you're into fashion,
art, music, vintage and credit cards, that's something for you, you little
shopaholic.
I know
December is the month of Fuego, Stefan Hrusca and Stefan Banica Jr. concerts.
Please do not get too excited about Swedish House Mafia being for the first
time in our beloved country and ignore our authentic brilliant singers or you
are so going to Hell. Now, I was a bit controversial hearing that this is the
first and last concert in Romania. At first I thought that they already hate
our country and I was like "such a pair of twats", but actually they
will kind of split after their career of almost 4 years(what?) , the 2012 tour
being their last one. I'm sure they will still be mixing in some clubs, but if
you want to see the electronic dance music trio for the first and
last time, then prepare for December 14.
3. The Hobbit
This
may not count as an event, but I couldn't help myself not including the next
part(which in fact happened before LOTR) of my favourite movie of all times -
The Lord Of The Rings. The premiere will happen on December 14 so you'll
have plenty of time to watch it before the world comes to an end.
For you
brainy ones, I've got an exciting conference. TED(Technology, Entertainment and
Design) will organise some conferences all around the country in the near
future. If you don't know what it is, it's basically some kind of stand-up with
really intelligent and innovative people that speak and pretty much know
everything about everything (and by that, I mean is nothing like a stand-up
comedy show). There are not too many information about the Bucharest event on
the Internet mainly because it will take place on January 31, but you can
always check the site for updates and also look up for TEDxYouth@Lipscani.
That's
pretty much it for the following months(all I could think for), but let's not
forget about 2013 which will bring us Depeche Mode, Imagine Dragons, Rock The
City, EUROPAfest and many others.
By the
way,
La
mulți ani, România!
UPDATE:
Today(December
2) was the first time I went to a public speaking event and I was really
pleased to be amongst such diverse, passionate and interesting people.
Every two weeks, 6 speakers try to develop their speaking abilities by
presenting some kind of information to an audience. The audience gives a mark
and feedback and this becomes very interactive, fun and full of knowledge.
Luckily, you can go there and tell your story or just attend and learn
something exciting. You can check their Facebook page
and keep yourself updated about who, when and where.

You'll Find A Way
Have
you ever felt your heart hurting? Not in the boring medical way, but a pain
that gives you a hint on how profoundly sad you are. I'd say it's the greatest
experience in the world, apart from passing out(morbid joke alert). Everyone
says you will reach a point when you'll be extremely happy, as happy as you've
never been before. In fact, you'll be so happy to shit unicorns and rainbows
and you'll lay down on a Barbie pink cloud sippin' on a margarita next to Katy
Perry. Bullshit.
I
don't believe in happines. I find it as true as Osama bin Laden. I think it is
as relative as E=MC2 and one minute you have hearts instead of eyes and the
next minute you get fired and catch your wife cheating on you. It may sound
like the worst case scenario, but think about this: how many times didn't you
find yourself content and quite enjoying life, but mentally preparing yourself
for the worst?
The
thing is, we can't quite appreciate being happy because we're drawn back by the
fear of the not so happy ending. I'm a person that cuts a feather pretty much
all the time and the fact that I cannot make it a profitable business makes it
even more lame. I think the more stupid you are, the happier life gets and I
don't know if there are psychological experiments about this, but I find it
more accurate day by day.
The
test I'm putting myself trough once in a while is just to be pleased with what
I have and try to look for less answers, because truth is as relative as
happiness, indeed. One thing, I noticed that I really like when british people
say "I suppose". I find it really pleasant to hear, and 99% percent
of the guilt belongs to Lane Pryce from Mad Men, who is a little bit dead at
the moment. Oh well, you never know what it is going to happen.
Now,
what's up with Starbucks workers? I don't know the protocol, but in Bucharest
they try to act really friendly, but then professional at the same time and
that really creeps me out. Chillax, dudes that work there, don't try so hard,
we're used to displeased civil servant ladies that would spit you in
the eye for giving them money, it's not your fault you work in a nice
environment. No, not really..
Life
is beautiful, but damn complicated.
Enjoy
it.

Ok, so
this may or may not be a "How I want my boyfriend to dress like" type
of post, but it also is an advice type thing. I know I'm not entitled by any
means to tell anyone how to look like and I won't judge you if you think this
is an absolute bullshit. Having said that, I can now move on to the important stuff.
Now,
what I am trying to convey is that a T-shirt and jeans or a wedding appropriate
suit are not ALWAYS the best choices. Fashion is NOT only for women/gay people.
People need to look good, because you never know when you need to make a good
impression. I'm not saying that you need to dress fancy every time you walk out
the door, but seriously, take into consideration your appearance once in a
while. Undoubtedly, there are loads of women that look like hookers/homeless
people and I'm not hinting I'm the best dressed individual out there(cuz I'm
not) so don't think of me as a misandrist. I just like you to take into
account the fact that good looks can make such a difference.
There
is this BLOG of
this guy whom I found on lookbook. He posts a lot of OTD's(Outfit of The
Day) that look so put together in such an effortlessly way. Of course, he is
blond and blue eyed and a model and that is completely irrelevant.
This is not a wake-up call for you to wear men purses, buy ridiculously
expensive clothes or pose awkwardly. In fact, man up, get inspired and look
great, that would be my quote for you.
I'm
sure lots of you have heard about THE SARTORIALIST ,
but in case you don't he is an amazing photographer who was featured in a lot
of famous fashion magazine. He basically takes pictures on the street and man
he's good at it. He also has a book named Closer for men and women, which encompasses the diverse style and
visual attitude of people. If you are interested in what others are
wearing, this is for you to purchase.
If you
are a bit lazy(which I know I am) then just type menswear on
Pinterest, Tumblr or even Google and you'll find plenty of pages to choose
from. Of course I cannot forget about GQ, which is a must have magazine if you
want to look sharp. I am 100% sure you have no excuse to appear on poorlydressed front
pages.
I hope
I was useful, I hope I'll have a statue of myself in front of The White
House and I hope you will make an effort to look better(to be a better person
is already a given) and take care of yourself as a whole.
Be
loved.
Flight Facilities - With You feat. Grovesnor
Good
afternoon everybody. Long time, no see. The reason for my absence and probably
the lamest reason of all is that I really couldn't be bothered writing and the
inspiration was just not there. Unfortunately, I cannot say the divine
inspiration is following me like my shadow today, but I seriously hate reading
that annoying road legislation (yeah, I'm hopefully going to get my licence to
kill old ladies with my car soon - this was a creepy joke or was it? ).
Going
back to the theme of this post, I don't know about you guys but my summer
haven't been so amazing so far. Right now, I'm in a place where I recovered my
long lost energy and I don't actually have something fun to invest it in. On
balance, to make sure I don't go to hell I have to say that I am grateful I can
see my beloved ones more often and have the ability to monkey around all day
and think about everything possible or insane.
Strangely,
I wasn't in the mood for series or The Sims 3 which is more than weird for my
spare time activity routine. Luckily, I've started to get back on track a few
days ago and I watched Awkward, which is by no means appropriate for my age or
smart enough to be worth watching( I mean is for kiddos). Now the only downside
is that I seem to always find something fun to do when I already have something
more important to beat my brains with. Isn't life just brilliant?
On a
side note, I can't help posting a song that goes pretty
perfectly with my overall state of mind.
Have
a lovely summer!
This
post could also be named "Artist Of The Year" or "The Most
Resonant Voice". I discovered Delilah last year when I saw the video for
"I Love You So" on a random website and I was amazed by how
profesional and beautifully uncommon it sounded. I am constantly looking for
new songs to adore listening, and Delilah's seemed to always appear in my
playlist.
If
your ears weren't delighted by Delilah yet, prepare to fall in love.

Yesterday
(all my troubles seemed so far away) I was browsing trough YouTube and I found
this guy who talks a lot. Surely, the important fact was not the talking
itself, but the topics he debates. Clearly, YouTube has become overloaded with
beauty gurus and not so funny guys that make fun of other people in a not so
funny manner. I do not say I am not watching these videos that obviously
would make you even more superficial than you already are(guilty as charged),
but I really feel the need to listen/see something else then the usual. As I
was searching for something that would give me food for thought, I came across AmanJohnX which seemed so
controversial, yet powerfully believing in his own ideas. He reviews subjects
from eating healthy to economic and political issues.
Then
there was this video which cut my eye as it pretended to be about the purpose
of life and I was a bit surprised to find out it was not another consumerism
affected video, but one about the philosophical side which was 40 minutes long
(just as much as a Dr. House episode). Now, I know it may sound cheesy,
but at the end of the day we all torment ourselves to discover the hidden
meaning of life. Anyhow, I sacrificed my Thursday middle of the
night and I have no regrets. His main idea was the fact that in order to
achieve happiness we must dig deeper and question everything that we know. In
fact, the truth is all that matters and there is no car, mansion or bright
career that would surpass that. Given the fact that I am a negative person(I
already know it only makes my life worse ), I try to balance it out and
look for things that will keep me motivating and moving forward. So when Aman
talked about how important is to set a goal and try to gain confidence, trust
and put yourself first and about how every decision affects our life, I started
to believe that what my mother tells me everyday (to take my life as it is, to
fight for my life and my beliefs and not wait for someone to do this for
me) is really what I should do.
This
morning I woke up thinking I would have a good day, saying that I would do my
best to not let anything to stay in my way and it just happened( an unknown man
even smiled at me and told me I was beautiful, then he walked away - not
in a creepy kind of way).
Now
here is the video I was talking about and try not to think about it as
an attack on religion or people in general. Try to be inspired by
this and reevaluate your living. Have a beautiful evening.
